"The whole point of human-centered design is to tame complexity, to turn what would appear to be a complicated tool into one that fits the task, that is understandable, usable, enjoyable." - Don Norman
Throughout my career, my focus and goal has always been on creating work that promotes human connectivity and interaction. From a young age, my curiosity walked the line between art and science. I attended the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts, which formalized my interest in human connection to spaces through painting and photography. This foundation led me to earn degrees in Architecture from Wentworth Institute of Technology (B.S. Arch '15) and the University of Oregon (M.Arch '18). After practicing Architecture for 4 years, I transitioned my focus into user-experience design during my masters and have been creating multi-media experiences, digital products, web apps, and native apps ever since.
I'm passionate about refining ideas through constant iteration, working closely with teams to create digital products that evolve and improve with each step.
Putting users first is at the heart of my approach. I strive to understand their needs deeply, ensuring that every product decision enhances their experience.
I believe in the power of data to guide design choices by leveraging data insights make informed decisions that lead to impactful and successful products.
Collaboration fuels my creativity. By involving stakeholders, users, and cross-functional teams, I facilitate workshops to build a common understanding of what we're building.
Open and clear communication is key to successful teamwork. I foster an environment where ideas flow freely, ensuring alignment and engagement throughout.
I'm driven by a relentless desire to deliver. I value action, efficiency, and timely execution, turning concepts into real-life digital products that make an impact.
"I think that when we use the word 'simple,' what we mean is something that is very clear." - Alvaro Siza
In my experience as an architect, I learned the importance of simplicity in design, focusing on the user's needs and creating spaces that are functional and intuitive. This philosophy of simplicity has influenced my work to digital product design, where I strive to create products that are easy to use and meet the user's needs. By embracing the complexity of simplicity, I strive create designs that are both elegant and effective, providing a seamless experience for the user.
Outside of work, I spend a lot of my time building community through fitness. I'm an annual marathoner and weekend surfer, which keeps me training and striving.
I aim to effect change in the community by acting as a Senior Mentoring Leader at Minds Matter Bay Area. Every Saturday, I facilitate a class of low-income, high-achieving students to help them gain the skills necessary to get into and thrive in college.
Additionally, I strive to create spaces for people to connect and work on their careers in the design community. To this end, I co-founded CritRoom, a weekly group that connects multi-disciplinary designers to receive critiques from industry professionals.
